The Grand Opening event at Pear Tree High School was held on 15 May and was a huge success. Pear Tree opened at the beginning of the academic year, and this event celebrated the school community and the journey they have been on so far.
The day was filled with pride, ambition, and so much community spirit. This milestone moment celebrated the incredible support received from the entire school community, as well as the hard work of students who worked together to create such a special day.
Co-Headteacher Katie Jones opened the ceremony with a moving original poem, now sealed in a time capsule to be opened in 25 years. A PTFA member shared a heartfelt parent’s perspective, followed by musical performances from our talented students.
Speeches of celebration and thanks were given by Co-Headteacher Rachel Hughes, Councillor Mark Hunter, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, and Mayor of Stockport Suzanne Wyatt. Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the catering team, explored the petting zoo, joined the raffle, and supported the Spicy Pears eco shop.
We look forward to many more years of growth, learning, and community spirit.
